
Days 1–3: Tokyo
Start in Tokyo and see the city at your own pace.
Days 4–6: Kyoto and Osaka
Travel west by shinkansen for temples in Kyoto and food in Osaka.

Day 7: Osaka to Kochi
Fly from Osaka Itami to Kochi (ANA, 6 flights a day, about 45 minutes), or take the shinkansen to Okayama and the Nanpu limited express (about 2h 24m–2h 42m from Okayama). In the evening, eat katsuo no tataki at Hirome Market.

Days 8–9: Kochi
Plan one of these days as a Sunday. Walk the Sunday Market (about 300 stalls, around 6:00–14:00), climb Kochi Castle, one of Japan's 12 original castle keeps, and see the castle lit up at night.
On the other day, choose a trip out: the blue water of the Niyodo River, Katsurahama Beach and the Ryoma statue, or Ryugado Cave and the Noichi Zoo.
Day 10: Kochi to Tokyo
Fly from Kochi to Tokyo Haneda (about 1h 20m, about 9 flights a day) and connect to your flight home.

Add two nights in Tosashimizu for Cape Ashizuri, the southernmost point of Shikoku, and the hometown of John Manjiro, the hero of NHK's 2028 historical drama.
